New Album Release

Pilgrim St Ash Front resized.jpeg

We’ve finally released our debut album on July 10th. Although it wasn’t to the usual fanfare of album releases ( due to the Covid pandemic ), we felt it still needed to be put out there. Ash Into Gold Dust comprises of 10 songs and a tune/instrumental by Eoin McDonnell. The rest of the songs are all original and were written by band members Peadar Farrelly, Brendan Kelly and Eugene Donegan. The album is a fair representation of the original material the band has showcased in the first six years of its existence up and down the country.

The album can be purchased physically at the site store pilgrimst.com/shop or if you wish to buy a digital version here at our Bandcamp page https://pilgrimst.bandcamp.com/releases

This year and the next.

Ramor pic.jpg

We opened and closed 2019 with gigs in the Ramor Theatre in Virginia, two very special shows in a wonderful theatre. Other gig highlights of the year would have to be selling out the Solstice ( our hometown gig ) at long last, Moniaive Bluegrass Festival in Scotland, The Red Room in Cookstown and our Roe Valley and Strule gigs up north..

None of these would mean anything without the people that attended these gigs, the organisers and the staff on the ground, the people that make up the small little Bluegrass community on these isles are tremendous.

So we look forward to a new year. We have new places to play and our regular haunts, we’re hoping to play a few new festivals and make some new friends along the way. We’ll also have our long awaited new album out early 2020 and we’re very excited about that.

So on behalf of all at Pilgrim St, we would like to wish you all a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Festival

Just when you think that the festival season is over, two more come along.

We spent last weekend over in Scotland playing the Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Festival for the first time and what a weekend it was. Playing to packed houses in the company of warm wonderful people, it was an amazing experience.

Festival of Festiveness

We play the Balla Bluegrass Festival in Mayo for the first time on the October Bank Holiday weekend, we play the Olde Woods and admission is free in.

In December we play a new festival called Festival of Festiveness in the Newgrange Hotel in Navan, there is a terrific lineup for this with some very special guests to be announced. Admission is €20 which includes a mulled wine reception.

Full house for The EP launch.

Band 4.jpg

Droichead Arts Centre was sold out for The EP launch on Saturday night. This was the fourth year in a row that we played this wonderful venue and it was a joy from beginning to end. We were joined onstage by our good friend SJ McArdle ( Kern ) for a couple of songs, SJ is an amazing songwriter and musician and he sang The Hard Wind, a powerful song about the Irish that fought in World War 1.

We recently had a photoshoot with John and Rachel of Wilde Photography in The Chocolate Factory in Drogheda. We've always worked with John as regards our photography and recently we shot a couple of videos down in Black Mountain Recording Studio as well, this photoshoot was no different as the results were as always top quality. They also did a behind the scenes video of the day. Check out their blog and video.
